02/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 2 May, the European Commission launched a public consultation following its recommendation for tackling illegal online content. The consultation will continue until 25 July and will ask citizens, platforms and organisations working in this area about the effectiveness of voluntary measures and the need for the EU to introduce additional measures. The results of this consultation will be in addition to the communication of autumn 2017 and the recommendation of March 2018 on illegal content (see EUROPE 11863). They will help to foster further reflections currently being carried out by the European Commission on possible additional measures to improve the effectiveness of tackling online illegal content.
