02/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 2 May, the European Commission approved a Croatian measure to support restructuring of the shipping company Jadroplov. The latter, faced by a fall in volume and prices of dry bulk cargo, has undergone an overhaul. The measure by Croatia will cost around €14.2 million and includes a subsidy and two guarantees on bank loans. The Commission has noted that the restructuring plan would allow the company to ensure long-term viability without requiring continued state support and that Jadroplov would significantly contribute to the cost of restructuring. The sale of assets by the company will, moreover, allow potential competition distortion brought on by the aid measure to be limited. Given the rescue and restructuring guidelines, the Commission has therefore endorsed the measure. (LT)
