With 1 May fast approaching, EU insists on permanent unconditional exemption from taxes on steel and aluminium

On Friday 27 April, the European Commission rejected any link made by certain media between the process of renegotiating the 2009 EU-USA memorandum of understanding (resulting from their dispute at the WTO on the European ban on importing hormone-injected beef) and the talks for permanent exemption for the EU from the US taxes on imports of steel and aluminium.
