27/04/2018 (Agence Europe) – “France wants to have a decision on digital taxation by the end of 2018”, said the French finance minister, Bruno Le Maire, upon arrival at the meeting of the Eurogroup in Sofia on Friday 27 April. He said that the Commission's proposed 3% tax on the gross revenue of the activities of digital platforms (see EUROPE 11986) was a good basis for an interim solution. He remains confident that an agreement can be reached between the member states. “It does not exclude other proposals and other inflections that we are having on a long-term solution, but we need a decision”, he concluded, referring to the other proposal on the table, aiming to harmonise the corporate tax base within the EU (CCCTB). The subject is on the agenda of the meeting of the financial policymakers on Saturday 28 April. (MF)
