17/04/2018 (Agence Europe) – Between January and March, the Greek primary budgetary surplus (not including servicing of the debt) stood at €2.32 billion, compared to the Greek authorities' target level of €1.09 billion, Reuters reported on Monday 16 April. The results are therefore well ahead of the expressed ambitions of the government of Alexis Tsipras. The figures will come in for a great deal of attention, as August will see Greece leave the third bailout plan. As stipulated at the meeting of the Eurogroup on 15 June of last year, Athens has also undertaken to achieve a primary budgetary surplus of 3.5% of GDP between 2018 and 2022, followed by an average primary budgetary surplus of 2% of GDP up to 2060 (see EUROPE 11810). For this year, the Greek authorities predict a primary surplus in the neighbourhood of 3.82% of GDP. (LT)
