29/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 28 March, the European Commission launched a public consultation on railway noise pollution. Given the fact that railway freight is, after road transport, the most significant source of noise pollution in Europe, the (EU) 2015/429 regulation provides the legal framework for the noise differentiated track access charges (NDTAC), with the aim of reducing this noise and encouraging railway carriage modernisation. Citizens and interested parties are therefore called on to formulate their observations on this is kind of pollution and the implementing regulations in question up until 20 June.
