Public consultation on noise differentiated track accessed charges from railways

29/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 28 March, the European Commission launched a public consultation on railway noise pollution. Given the fact that railway freight is, after road transport, the most significant source of noise pollution in Europe, the (EU) 2015/429 regulation provides the legal framework for the noise differentiated track access charges (NDTAC), with the aim of reducing this noise and encouraging railway carriage modernisation.
