29/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – In a press release on 27 March that summed up the 155th session of the European Patents Office (EPO) management committee (which brings together the representatives of the member states) session, the EPO confirmed its “broad support” for the EPO proposals to modernise its employment system. This modernisation will include “the principle of introducing more flexibility and for alignment of the employment conditions between different categories of staff”. The President of the EPO, Benoît Battistelli, who is coming to the end of his mandate (see EUROPE 11881), was responsible for undertaking the controversial modernisation initiative on staff working conditions (see EUROPE 11504).
