Commission and Trump administration to try and find acceptable solution to US steel and aluminium tax affair

During the visit of European Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström to Washington, the European Commission and US President Donald Trump’s administration agreed, on Wednesday 21 March, to find a “mutually acceptable” solution to the issue of US taxes on imports of steel and aluminium.  The taxes were enacted by Trump on 8 March and are due to enter into force on 23 March.
