07/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – During a meeting of CEOs from European airline companies on Tuesday 6 March in Brussels, the Airlines for Europe (A4E) organisation declared that it was concerned by the insufficient implementation of directive 2009/12/EC on airport charges and therefore repeated the position it had already outlined on 7 December last (see EUROPE 11922). According to A4E, this partial implementation of the text would lead to the creation of monopolies and would be to the disadvantage of consumers. Thomas Reynaert, the executive director of A4E referred to the initial impact study carried out by institution on 13 November (see EUROPE 11905) and explained that, “Therefore, we are pleased that the European Commission has launched a review into the Airport Charges Directive”. However, ACI (Airports Council International) Europe, took a position opposing the suggestions put forward by A4E (see EUROPE 11924). (LT)
