05/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 2 March, several member states from the Visegrad group, but also from Western Europe, are reported to have expressed their surprise at the meeting of national ambassadors to the EU (Coreper), after the joint announcement of the provisional interinstitutional agreement on the review of the posted workers directive (see EUROPE 11972). The delegations reportedly said they were "surprised" that the rotating Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council has participated in a joint declaration with the European Commission and European Parliament, although a formal agreement has not yet been recorded. The member states have not indeed had time to examine the announced agreement in detail. The national experts from the Council will look into this on Thursday 8 March, and the discussions could be heated, according to EUROPE's sources. (PH)
