15/02/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 15 and Friday 16 February, the European Transport Workers' Federation (ETF) is organising a seminar on defending the interests of dockers in the context of the digitalisation and automation of ports. Although the organisation considers that new technologies represent a real opportunity for the sector, it would like to avoid their use and expansion leading to job losses. The Vice President of the dockers’ section of the ETF, Torben Seebold, stated, “New technologies should support dock workers to deliver greater productivity in better conditions”. The ETF hopes that this seminar will, above all, help dockworkers get their voices heard and encourage dialogue between all the different stakeholders. (LT)
