Council of Europe reiterates concerns about judicial reform

In a letter to Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Tuesday 6 February, the Council of Europe's commissioner for human rights, Nils Muiznieks, expresses concern about recent developments in Poland.

Muiznieks states once again that the amendments to the Polish law on the National Council of the Judiciary, and to that on the Supreme Court, "compromise judicial independence", and he asks for"clarifications" on how the laws will be applied.
