The European Commission wants to improve the quality of drinking water in Europe in light of the latest scientific advice and ensure that all EU citizens have access to clean, safe water. To do this, it proposed on Thursday 1 February to revise the European drinking water directive, which was adopted in 1998 (see EUROPE 11951).
