17/01/2018 (Agence Europe) – On 17 January, only a few weeks before the general election, the Hungarian government brought forward proposals for fresh provisions against illegal immigration. Any organisation that uses foreign funding to support illegal immigration will have to be registered and will be required to provide information on its activities, a press release states. A tax will also be imposed on the foreign funding of organisations that support illegal immigration. This income will be invested in border protection, the government goes on. Furthermore, restraining orders may be served on those involved in organising illegal immigration. “Orders of this sort will apply in all zones less than eight kilometres from the Schengen border. In special cases, third country citizens may be made subject to a restraining order anywhere in Hungary. This measure will remain in force until the end of the migration crisis”. (SP)
