A total ban on Bisphenol-A (BPA) in food packaging within the EU will not come overnight. MEPs at the environment, public health and food safety committee on Wednesday 11 January called for the ban in the hope of gaining a veto against a European Commission proposal for a regulation, deemed insufficient for protecting consumer health.
