15/12/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 14 December, the presidents of the three European institutions signed the new joint declaration on the EU's legislative priorities for 2018-19. The declaration highlights 31 new legislative proposals presented by the Commission that the Parliament and Council will treat as priorities before European elections in 2019. The text underlines seven areas of action to speed up the proposals: citizens' security, migration policy reform, growth and employment, the social dimension of the EU, the digital connected market, Energy Union and climate change, in addition to the democratic legitimacy of the EU. In a press release, the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, stated, “The joint declaration on the EU's legislative priorities is our promise not to make empty promises”.
