13/12/2017 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Council, Donald Tusk and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini welcomed the reappointment for three years of Jens Stoltenberg to his post as head of NATO. In a letter to Mr Stoltenberg dated Friday 13 December, Mr Tusk emphasised, “It was with great pleasure that I learned of the extension of your mandate as NATO Secretary General until 2020. I am delighted that we can continue working together”. According to Tusk, this renewal is "a sign that his work," including the strengthening of links between the EU and NATO, "bears fruit". The day before in a tweet, Ms Mogherini said that it was, “excellent news, we'll continue together to make the EU-NATO cooperation stronger than ever”. (CG)
