11/12/2017 (Agence Europe) – In two papers dated Thursday 7 December, the aviation working group at the Council of the European Union approved two implementing regulations to simplify and regulate the use of non-motorised balloons introduced by the European Commission on and 27 October last (see EUROPE 11908). With these two texts, the Commission would like civil aviation to no longer be governed by common rules but by a specific text simplifying this use, with the exception of monitoring aviation operations by the appropriate authorities in member states. The "aviation" group is therefore calling on the Committee of Permanent Representatives to the EU (Coreper) to give the green light to the regulations. The European Parliament will also have to do give its verdict so that these texts can be permanently adopted. (LT)
