European Parliament committee gives up opposing five-year renewal of glyphosate licence

On Wednesday 28 November, MEPs from the European Parliament's environment committee gave up vetoing the European Commission's proposal to renew the licence for the active substance glyphosate for five years, without eventually banning it.  The proposal to object tabled by the GUE/NGL group was rejected by a slim majority (29 votes in favour, 27 against and one abstention).
