20/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 20 November, the European Commission approved a German support measure for property owners wanting to install solar panels on the roofs of residential buildings. The electricity produced from these panels (of around 100 kilowatts capacity) is aimed at providing energy for tenants. The support is in the form of premiums on the market prices that residents have to pay. The measure is budgeted at €4 million and has been approved for a period of ten years. It will enable property-owners to participate in the German energy transition and will contribute to the EU's environmental goals. The Commission considered that the scheme was compatible with the 2014 guidelines on state aid for energy and for environmental protection. (LT)
