13/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini proposed aid on Monday 13 November following an earthquake the previous evening in north-east Iraq and bordering regions of Iran and Turkey which has killed at least 213 and injured several hundred. Speaking on her arrival at the Foreign Affairs Council, she expressed the EU's willingness to support relief efforts in any way that might be useful. She said that it was difficult to deal with an earthquake of that intensity anywhere in the world (7.5 on the Richter scale). Mogherini underscored the EU's solidarity with the authorities and families of the victims or Iraq, Iran and the wider region. (CG)
