On Tuesday 7 November, the European Commission adopted a proposal on fishing quotas for 2018 in the Atlantic and North Sea, with increased catches of a number of stocks of sole, but a complete ban on commercial fishing of eels at sea.
Based on scientific advice, the Commission proposes to maintain or increase total allowable catches (TAC) and quotas for 53 stocks in good health and to reduce TAC for 25 stocks in bad health.
