MEPs say member states should take 20% of the world's refugees annually

By a wide majority (37 to 20 and 2 abstentions) on Thursday 12 October, the European Parliament’s civil liberties committee (LIBE) adopted its negotiating position for the future permanent EU mechanism for resettlement refugees, calling on the EU to accept 240,000 refugees, 20% of global requirements as estimated by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.
