12/10/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 12 October, a press release from the permanent bailout fund of the eurozone, the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), states that the day he leaves his ministerial post at the end of October, Dutch national Jeroen Dijsselbloem will become "strategic adviser" to the ESM until the end of his term as Eurogroup president in mid-January. Dijsselbloem, who also chairs the ESM board of governors, will have an office and logistical support in Luxembourg and will be remunerated for this work. In early December, eurozone finance ministers will elect Dijsselbloem's replacement as head of the Eurogroup for a two-and-a-half year mandate (see EUROPE 11880). Among the potential contenders are the Portuguese and Slovak ministers, for the Social Democrats, the French and Spanish ministers, for the Christian Democrats, and the Luxembourg minister, for the Liberals.
