20/09/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 19 September, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov agreed on the "need to coordinate a united response to open up a credible political process to achieve the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula through peaceful means", the European External Action Service (EEAS) announced after a meeting in New York. Mogherini and Lavrov also discussed Syria (ahead of an EU-organised high level meeting on 21 September) and the Iran nuclear agreement. A ministerial meeting took place on 20 September regarding implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) (see EUROPE 11865). Neither the EEAS, nor the Russian ministry of foreign affairs, mentioned a conversation on Ukraine, however. (CG)
