28/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – An official source explained to this newsletter on Friday 27 July that the European Commission is not due to attend the diesel summit in Berlin on Wednesday 2 August because the summit is an essentially German event. All the same, the summit is due to discuss the ban on diesel vehicles being considered by increasing numbers of cities, to the dismay of EU Industry Commissioner Elżbieta Bieńkowska (see EUROPE 11834). The administrative court of Stuttgart found in favour on Friday of an ecological organisation, Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH), on the ban of some diesel vehicles from 2018. 'Dieselgate' has burst open again with revelations about a cartel of German car manufacturers who are alleged to have colluded on reducing the amount of Adblue, used in diesel depollution systems, to cut costs.
