30/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Air Safety Agency (EASA) recommended on Friday 30 June the adoption of proposals on the training of European pilots on what to do when they lose control of planes. Prevention and recovery modules for total loss of control will be incorporated into airline pilot training courses. The EASA feels that this will boost pilot resilience to the psychological and physiological aspects often associated with conditions of loss of control. For non-commercial flights, the agency proposes considerable changes in training to incorporate methods for dealing with loss of control. The proposals aim to boost safety and harmonise standards within the International Civil Aviation Organisation. EASA expects the European Commission to adopt the recommendations by 8 April 2018. EASA member states will then have until April 2019 to comply with the new standards. (LT)
