Brussels, 30/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has launched a public consultation, to run from 29 June to 22 September 2017 to gather submissions to feed into the mid-term review of the Atlantic Ocean action plan. The Commission wants to: - assess the plan’s relevance (is EU action still needed?) and its effectiveness (have the objectives been achieved?); - check the effectiveness of the governance structure; - assess whether EU action has brought demonstrable added value. In November 2011, the Commission adopted the strategy for the Atlantic, which covers five countries (France, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and United Kingdom) and their outermost regions in the Atlantic. The Atlantic Ocean action plan was adopted in 2013 to put the strategy into effect. (LC)
