Regulatory relaxation for non-financial companies acquiring derivatives

This Thursday 4 May, the European Commission is to present a targeted legislative proposal aiming to make certain provisions of the ‘EMIR’ regulation (648/2012) on transactions in derivative financial products in Europe more proportionate.

The legislative revision will relax obligations on non-financial companies (whose principal activity is not related to the financial markets), including airlines wishing to hedge exchange rate risks by acquiring derivative products.
