29/03/2017 (Agence Europe) – In a statement made on Wednesday 29 March, on the day of notification for Article 50, the president of Eurocities, Daniel Termont, urged the different stakeholders involved in the Brexit negotiations to take cities into account. He insisted that the EU and heads of state provide a guarantee to British cities that their cooperation is continued within the different social, economic and environmental fields, particularly in the context of the struggle to tackle climate change and manage migration flows. The position reserved for British cities in the new urban agenda adopted last year remains another of the many different grey areas (see EUROPE 11561). The regions also recently called for their interests to be taken into account during the negotiations (see EUROPE 11756). (PH)
