29/03/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 29 March, the national ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) approved the draft technical standards to implement the 'Priips' regulation detailing the pre-contractual information requirements on retail financial products, which was submitted by the European Commission in early March (see EUROPE 11739). The European Parliament's committee on economic and monetary affairs did the same two days earlier. “Everybody feels the need to close this dossier quickly”, even though it is not perfect, said a parliamentary source, who added that the Commission was aware that certain elements needed a few finishing touches. The implementing measures will apply from the beginning of January 2018, taking effect at the same time as the 'Priips' directive. (MB)
