The EU expects a signal from the highest political level in Malaysia on the sidelines of the meeting of ASEAN economy ministers in Manilla on 10 March – a meeting to be attended by Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström – with a view to resuming the negotiations on a free-trade agreement that were suspended in 2012, ahead of the Malaysian general election on 2013.
