01/03/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 28 February, the committee on legal affairs (JURI) of the European Parliament paved the way for the parliamentary immunity of Marine Le Pen to be lifted, following a request in the framework of an investigation into the dissemination by the President of the Front National of photos of the Islamic State group on Twitter. The MEPs of the committee on legal affairs took position in favour of lifting her immunity, by request of the public prosecutor's office of Nanterre, which has opened a judicial investigation into Le Pen over the dissemination of violent images. The possible lifting of her immunity, which will be put to a vote in the Parliament's plenary session this Thursday, has nothing to do with suspicions of fictitious parliamentary assistant positions for MEPs of the Front National at the European Parliament.
