09/02/2017 (Agence Europe) – During a phone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said that the EU remained "fully committed to work with the two parties [Israel and Palestine] and its international and regional partners on the two-state solution as the only way to end the conflict and move the peace process forward", the European External Action Service stated in a press release. The EU also expressed its opposition to the 'Regularisation Law' adopted by Israeli Knesset, and stated that settlements are illegal under international law and endanger the prospects for a peaceful solution to the conflict, the EEAS said (see EUROPE 11721). During their conversation, Mogherini also informed Abbas about the discussions held at the Foreign Affairs Council on 6 February. (CG)
