01/02/2017 (Agence Europe) – The EU has allocated €14 million for investigation and monitoring programmes on 46 plant pests in 24 member states in 2017 (see EUROPE 11715). The largest budget – €4.2 million – will go to tackling Xylella fastidiosa, a bacterium that has attacked and killed numerous olive trees in the south of Italy. (LC)
