13/01/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Council for Motor Trades and Repairs said on Thursday 12 January that it ‘welcomes the European Commission’s Communication on Europe’s data economy adopted on January 10 (see EUROPE 11700, Ed.) which promises to “improve access to anonymous machine-generated data” and “minimise lock-in effects.” In this connection, the ECMTR calls for rapid adoption of the Open Telematics Platform, a highly topical subject for motor traders and repairers who, in the past, gave the European Commission early warning about the practices of some car manufacturers, which were not allowing access to vehicles’ telematics information (see EUROPE 11637).
