07/12/2016 (Agence Europe) – The regions of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions’ Atlantic Arc Commission called on Maritime Affairs Commissioner Karmenu Vella on Wednesday 7 December to improve financial incentives to boost investment in major projects. They expect much of the incoming Maltese Presidency on strengthening maritime issues in the preparation for EU’s strategy post-2020, as Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) Secretary General Eleni Marianou made clear. The CPMR hopes, too, that the territorial dimension of the blue economy and partnership with regions will form part of the ministerial declaration. In transport, the CPMR recently called for funding left over from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to be allocated to them, as these regions fall outside the core networks (see EUROPE 11661). (PH)
