07/12/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 13 December, the General Affairs Council is due to endorse a joint declaration on annual interinstitutional programming ('joint declaration') by the European Parliament, the Council, and the European Commission on the interinstitutional programming for 2017. The joint declaration sets the following legislative priorities for 2017: - jobs and growth (updating trade defence instruments, improving the management of waste, deepening economic and monetary union and more besides); - the EU's social dimension; - protecting citizens’ security (protection of external borders, smart borders, monitoring ownership of firearms, etc); - migration policy (reforming the European common asylum system, including the Dublin mechanism); - single connected digital market (preventing unjustified ‘geoblocking’); - Energy Union and climate change.
