15/11/2016 (Agence Europe) – At the end of the General Affairs Council on Tuesday 15 November, Italy expressed its annoyance regarding a number of European contradictions. The Italian secretary of State for European Affairs, Sandro Gozi, regretted that Europe had still not responded to the different possible threats to it and stated, “We are very tired of European ambiguities. We are very tired of a Europe that is in contradiction with itself and which says one thing but fails to do it! We are very tired of a small Europe with big things and a big Europe with small things. We are convinced that if Europe does not change, we are at the beginning of the end”. The Italian government has expressed reservations about the midterm review to the Multiannual Financial Framework, in an effort to exert pressure on the European Commission. The latter will be submitting its opinion on the draft Italian budget for 2017, this Wednesday (see other article). (MB)
