10/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 7 October, the European Community Shipowners' Associations (ECSA) welcomed the agreement reached during the International Civil Aviation Organisation's (ICAO) general assembly on reducing CO² emissions (see EUROPE 11641). In this context, ECSA repeats its support for the adoption of an agreement on reducing greenhouse gas emissions within the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) by the end of the month. It also supports the wishes of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) to adopt a timetable for reducing emissions from the maritime sector, whilst clarifying, however, the fact that these targets must be "realistic".
