 Ireland called upon to improve treatment of waste water

30/09/2016 (Agence Europe)On Thursday 29 September, the European Commission called upon Ireland, in a reasoned opinion, to ensure that waste water is properly treated in 38 agglomerations around the country. Under European legislation (Directive 91/27), small towns had until the end of 2005 to set in place treatment systems to ensure that waste water is not released into rivers and estuaries, and cities until the end of 2000.
