  • Brussels. European Parliament.  Committee meetings (until 01/09).  – AFET: debate about human rights and rule of law situation in Turkey, the Turkish military presence in Syria and the rapprochement between Turkey and Russia (30/08). – EMIS: hearing of ex-Commissioner Günter Verheugen and representatives of the Faurecia company (30/08). – INTA: debate on whether to adopt the EU-Canada economic and trade agreement and ratification of the agreement by national parliaments (31/08). – LIBE: discussion about attacks this summer with EU counter-terror coordinator Gilles de Kerchove; debate on new proposals to conclude the reform of the common asylum system (31/08). VARIOUS COMMITTEES: voting on amendments to EU budget for 2017 (31/08). - AFET and DEVE: joint meeting on migration and refugee situation (01/09). – ECON: voting on a European Commission delegated act on information for clients of PRIIPs products (investment funds, insurance products and derived products) (01/09).

  • Bratislava (Slovakia). Council of Ministers. Gymnich-type meeting of foreign affairs ministers, chaired by High Representative Federica Mogherini (also 03/09). - Discussion about EU relations with Turkey; - Ukraine: progress in implementation of Minsk agreements; - the EU’s global strategy.
  • Berlin (Germany). European Commission.  European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker meets German chancellor Angela Merkel.

Saturday 3 September

  • Bratislava (Slovakia). Council of Ministers. Gymnich-type meeting of foreign ministers. – Working meeting of heads of delegations, including those of accession countries: counter-terrorism and prevention and restriction of radicalisation.

Sunday 4 September

  • Hangzhou (China). G20 summit (also 05/09) on ‘Towards an innovative, reinvigorated, interconnected and inclusive global economy.’  Agenda to cover the global economic situation, tackling tax fraud and evasion and boosting the world’s financial architecture.  The EU will be represented by the presidents of the European Commission and European Council, Jean-Claude Juncker and Donald Tusk respectively, along with Commissioner Moscovici.
