26/08/2016 (Agence Europe) – The results of the British referendum won by supporters of the country leaving the European Union (EUROPE 11580) express a need for protection, said French economy minister Emmanuel Macron on Friday 26 August in an interview with French newspaper Les Echos, adding that ignoring it would sound the death knell for the European project. He said the eurozone had to defend its financial and monetary sovereignty, in other words be clear about circulating capital and its regulation. This regulation, he insisted, had to be done in the eurozone itself rather than from the City of London and this seemed to him to be non-negotiable. (MB)
