25/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU condemns suicide attack in Kabul last Saturday. On Saturday 23 July, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service (EEAS) condemned the attack earlier that day in Kabul during a march “where predominantly members of the Hazara community exercised their right to a peaceful protest - left many dead and injured”. The spokesperson expressed the EU's solidarity with the Afghan people. The suicide attack was carried out by two suicide bombers wearing belts containing explosives and has been claimed by the Islamic State (Daech) terrorist organisation. The spokesperson emphasised “We stand by the Afghan authorities in the fight against terrorism and call on all Afghans to stay united in support of the efforts to fight this global threat”. (CG)
