15/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - ACEA calls for convergence of road safety rules between the United States and the European Union. An approximation of US and EU road safety rules could lead to savings of nearly €2.3 billion a year, according to a press release from European car manufacturers' organisation ACEA. The figures come from a study by the Center for Automotive Research (CAR), which says that the convergence could be achieved as part of the transatlantic trade talks (TTIP). The savings would allow manufacturers to expand their range to the benefit of consumers. ACEA also quotes a 2015 study claiming an annual economic benefit of €20 billion if convergence of the rules is brought into force. (PH)
