20/05/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU condemns terrorist attack on MINUSMA peacekeepers. On Thursday 19 May, the European Union condemned the attack in Kidal the previous day on the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) which claimed the lives of five Chadian troops and wounded two more. “The terrorists have once again demonstrated their contempt for the desire of the people of Mali to live in peace”, stated the spokesperson for EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini. Expressing its condolences to the families of the soldiers killed and to the United Nations forces and wishing swift recovery to the wounded soldiers, the EU “restates its full support for MINUSMA and the countries providing troops for this operation” and gives assurances that it “will continue to support the efforts of Mali in tackling terrorism”.
