19/05/2016 (Agence Europe) - European airlines again slam controllers' strikes. The French air traffic controllers' strike on Thursday 19 May has been condemned by airlines, and in particular by the new organisation Airlines for Europe (A4E), which speaks for companies including Ryanair, IAG, Lufthansa, EasyJet, Air France KLM. The previous day, A4E expressed its discontent at this further strike - the fourth in two months, it points out - calculating that the repeated strikes had already this year caused more than one million minutes of delay and cancellation of over 2,000 flights among its members in March and April. Consequently, it calls on the European Commission and member states to act to ensure passenger rights and to minimise the impact of strikes. This is a recurring request by airlines (see EUROPE 11517 and 11107). (PH)
