19/05/2016 (Agence Europe) - Patricia Espinosa appointed Head of UNFCCC. Patricia Espinosa is from Mexico and was officially Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). She will take over from Christiana Figueras in July. UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, announced this news on Thursday 19 May. Ms Espinosa is currently Mexico's ambassador to Germany, a post she had already occupied from 2001 to 2002. She has more than 30 years of experience at the highest level of international relations. She is specialised in climate change, global governance, sustainable development and the protection of human rights and was the Mexican Minister for Foreign Affairs between 2006 and 2012.
