14/03/2016 (Agence Europe) -CeBit fair in Hannover gets off to a great start. Commissioner Gunther Oettinger attended the global digital market fair, CeBit, in Hannover, which runs from 14 to 18 March, to present the European vision of the internet of the future. At a high-ranking conference entitled 'Towards a digital economy and society in Europe' on Monday 14 March, he listed the challenges and opportunities for the strategy for a digital single market, arguing that if 2015 was the year of drafting the strategy, 2016 was the year of implementing it. He said he wanted to test 5G technology at the EUROPE 2020 football championship and that connected cars would be a reality by 2020. In this connection, the European Commission will unveil a strategy on 6 April to accelerate digitalisation of industry in Europe, which will be outlined in three communications and several working documents.
