14/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - Electrical interconnections, call for applications for new European Commission expert group. On Wednesday 9 March, the European Commission adopted a decision to establish a new expert group to provide technical opinions to the Commission and regional cooperation structures on the best way to turn the 15% electrical interconnection target into regional, national and/or cross-border objectives, and also on technical issues surrounding the implementation of necessary interconnection infrastructure, including achieving the 10% interconnection target for 2020. The group will comprise members with excellent knowledge of the electricity market selected from the bodies ACER, ENTSO-E and ENTSO-G, business associations from the electricity sector, universities, research centres, NGOs, international organisations and individuals.
